Bluechip MBS & DVA Fee Updates

An updated March, 2023 Medicare Benefits Schedule (MBS) file is now available to download below.

From 1 March 2023 there will be several changes to the Medicare Benefits Schedule (MBS). These changes include minor administrative and policy changes, as well as the Government’s response to recommendations from the independent MBS Review Taskforce (the Taskforce) and the Medical Services Advisory Committee (MSAC) Executive.

Download Update

Instructions to update MBS and DVA Fees in Bluechip:

  1. Download the above.
  2. When prompted select Run. If you are prompted with a ‘Security Warning’, click to proceed.
  3. When the installation welcome screen launches, click on Next to proceed.
  4. Click on Install to begin the installation.
  5. When the installation is completed, click on Finish.
  6. The BC Fee Update screen will be launched, click on the Update Now button

PLEASE NOTE: This following update only needs to be applied once on any computer.

Bluechip Microsoft Word Update

As you may have experienced Bluechip has been impacted by a recent forced Microsoft Word (MS Word) update. This update makes changes to registry settings and has impacted MS Word from being opened within the Bluechip software.

Our Support Team have invested hundreds of hours helping customers make changes to their registry settings to circumnavigate this problem. However, the most recent update for MS Word is overriding these changes, this means making the registry changes is no longer a feasible solution.

Our development team are working directly with Microsoft to find a permanent solution, this is being treated as the highest priority by both parties. We will update you here as soon as we have an update.

If you still need MS Word in the interim, you can make this happen by simply changing your Bluechip settings to open MS Word externally. This will allow Word to be utilized outside of Bluechip rather than within the Bluechip window. Although Word opens externally using this setting, it still allows for documents to be saved within Bluechip and shared or printed as usual. The instructions for changing this setting can be viewed here.

If you already have an open case for this issue, you are not required to take any further action. However, if you do NOT have an open case, simply head to the below link to log a case, be sure to include ‘Bluechip MS Word Issue’ in the description.

I’m on a version below 3.19

If you are looking to upgrade to the latest version of Bluechip (version 4.1) and are not currently on version 3.19 or higher, you will need to make several jumps before you are able to do so.

For practices on version 2.8, you will need to upgrade to 2.10, then 2.12 and then 3.19 before jumping to version 4.1.

For practices currently on version 2.9, you will be required to upgrade to 2.11, 3.18, and either 3.19 or 4.0 before progressing to 4.1

Bluechip Health Fund Fee Updates

As part of your Bluechip subscription,  we provide you with the latest Health Fund fee schedules. The various fee schedules for Health Funds are not always readily available, which means we regularly have to check the various health funds to get these updates and then create a format that may be imported into your Bluechip software.

We recommend you view the current status and the date the fees are effective from to ensure you have the latest versions.

If your Health Fund has supplied you with an updated file, and this is not identified as In progress, please email these files to customercare@medicaldirector.com to ensure they get prioritised.

Bluechip Fee Activator 2.0.13.1

This is the fee activator for Bluechip versions 2.8 and above. Bluechip Fee Activator 2.0.13.1 is a required prerequisite to Bluechip MBS & RMFS Fee Update and must be installed in the server or standalone prior to the Fee Update.

Instructions to download:

  1. Click Download button on the right for the BC Fee Activator file BCFeeActivator_2.0.13.1_Setup.exe.
  2. When prompted to ‘Run’, ‘Save’ or ‘Cancel’ the application, select ‘Run‘. The application will download to your computer and immediately run.
  3. You may be prompted for a ‘Security Warning’ message. If so, please select ‘Run‘.
  4. When the BC Fee Activator launches, click the ‘Next‘ button to proceed. The installation proceeds and the progress is displayed.
  5. When the installation has completed, click the ‘Finish‘ button.

Bluechip Day Surgery Updates

We are pleased to announce the release of the July 2022 update for MedicalDirector Bluechip Day Surgery, this update is valid from 1st of July 2022 and is intended to satisfy all the statutory reporting requirements for the year 2022-2023.
