Sonic Healthcare is a global company that provides laboratory medicine/pathology, radiology/ diagnostic imaging and primary care medical services. Before contacting Sonic, please ensure that you have the following details at hand, as this information will be used by your Sonic lab to identify your Practice.
Before receiving results electronically in Helix, you have the option to ask your Sonic lab to receive a bulk load of past results. This is in addition to the current results the practice will receive once the retrieval process is active. Please contact your lab and clearly specify the date you want to receive from the backlog to ensure that you do not receive duplicate results.
Note that if you do decide to receive bulk past results, the practitioners must assign each individual result to the patient records in Helix. This may take a minute or two to review and action each past result, so please check how many results the lab has stored for you in that chosen timeframe. If there are a lot of results, you should consider asking Sonic to stagger the delivery of those past results to reduce any impact.
1. Contact the Sonic lab and confirm the dates you want to start receiving electronic results from.
2. Contact Client IT at Sonic pathology laboratory. Please see contact details below.
3. Request for the lab to configure the laboratory results to be delivered via the new Sonic Fetch API (instead of paper or Fetch Client).
4. Provide the Practice details to the Sonic lab IT.
5. Obtain the Practice credentials for the Sonic Fetch API from the Lab (Username and Password)
6. Enter the Practice credentials within Helix centre settings. Please refer to steps below.
o Once the credentials have been entered, Helix is now ready to receive electronic results from Sonic.
o Please allow up to approximately half a day before the first results are delivered.
o When accessing the Helix Inbox for the first time after activation, please allow at least a minute for the reports to be displayed as there could be a number of electronic results waiting to be processed.
Notes:
These steps are only required for current Fetch Clients who are transitioning to the Fetch API.
1. Check if there are unprocessed HL7 files in the Fetch Client.
o Any unprocessed files should be processed before you proceed to the next step. This ensures no data loss when the Fetch Client is disabled.
2. Disable the Fetch Client from polling/retrieving reports, as this should now be delivered by the Fetch API.
Note: If advice or help is required with this stage, please contact the Sonic Lab for assistance.
1. Login to Helix as Admin.
2. Click on the user name in the bottom-left corner.
3. Select Settings menu item.
4. Select the Centre menu item Edit the Centre settings.
5. Select the Messaging Providers tab.
6. Within the Sonic panel, enter the Practice's Username and Password details. (provided to you by the lab).
7. Click Save. If you have entered the incorrect credentials, it will indicate an error.
8. Exit Settings.
Once valid Sonic credentials have been entered, the retrieval process will check every 9 minutes if there are reports to be processed. If there are reports for the Practice, the feature will retrieve and process/import the reports into the Practice's Helix Inbox.
