Helix User Guide
Receiving Pathology/Radiology Results Electronically - for ACL Labs

Overview

ACL fully automates the receiving of pathology result files (HL7/PIT), reports and summaries (in any file format) from Diagnostic Laboratories, securely and directly to MedicalDirector Helix.

Pre-requisites

You must obtain an Activation Code provided by ACL which is required by MedicalDirector Customer Service team during the configuration of your Secure Medical Services Client.

Please contact the ACL helpdesk on 1300 669 961 to obtain your Practice’s unique Activation code. Once you have received the activation code please contact MedicalDirector Customer Service to have your ACL Secure Medical Services Client configured to receive pathology results.

ACL Past Results

ACL will queue all your practice’s past results if you have not downloaded them with an ACL Secure Medical Services Client previously. If you do not want to receive any past results and want only to receive current results from the date that the ACL configuration is completed, you will need to first call ACL IT Support and ask them to remove the past results for the date range that you require. If you do not ask the ACL lab to remove past results from the queue, those messages will be received by Helix and you will need to assign every past result you receive.

Please ensure you call ACL IT support and request all past results are removed by ACL IT support before you contact MedicalDirector Customer Service.

Hospital Patients Results

If the practitioners at your practice also practice part-time at a hospital, ACL will queue test results requested for patients seen at the hospital – patients who aren’t necessarily those of your practice.

To prevent these ‘non-patient’ results from being received electronically, you must call ACL IT support on 1300 669 961 and request that all non-practice patient results be removed from the ACL electronic queue before the practice begins to receive electronic results.

If you do not make this request, those results will remain unassigned in Helix. Please call ACL IT support on 1300 669 961 and please ensure all non-patient results are removed by ACL IT support before you contact MedicalDirector Customer Service.
