How Clinical & Pracsoft can support your consultations through COVID-19
Over this last week as the COVID-19 pandemic has continued to evolve, we’ve been talking to practices about how they’ve been triaging patients, conducting consults, handling payments, managing imaging and radiology requests, coordinating prescriptions and more. Overwhelmingly, our practices are turning to either telehealth or telephone consults to help keep at-risk and vulnerable patients out of primary care practices, keep doctors and practice staff safe, and try to help stem the spread of infection.
Here’s a quick look at how MedicalDirector Clinical & Pracsoft can support your consultations as the COVID-19 situation unfolds.
Telephone and telehealth appointment types
In Pracsoft you can setup custom appointment types including an icon to denote a telephone or telehealth consultation.
Click to edit appointment types, select the Telephone or Telehealth icon, and you’re ready to go.
To book an appointment under one of these new categories, simply right click, scroll down to ‘type’ and select either the Telephone or Telehealth option.
This will then flag for the GP, that this is not a face-to-face consult. The Appointment Book window should be viewed in full screen.
Patients who do not meet this criteria should be advised of their out-of-pocket costs, and that payments will be processed as a private consultation via EFTPOS, after the consultation takes place. It is important that all payments are processed through MedicalDirector, and not third parties, so that end-of-day banking and reconciliation remains up-to-date.
Government directives are being updated constantly, so it’s important to keep up to date with the latest recommendations.
Patient SMS reminders are a great way of reinforcing to patients that their consultation will not take place in the clinic.
Our team is working around-the-clock to provide you with the tools and the support you need as Government directives come through, so that you can continue your life-changing work.
