Schema Update

The schema is essentially a set of instructions your database uses in order to manage data. Occasionally the database schema is modified by MedicalDirector Development. Such modifications are then applied to your database automatically, when you next install a Clinical / Pracsoft update (released periodically, and distributed to subscribers).

However, there may be rare occasions where you must update the database schema manually. This might occur if you had attempted to restore a database backup, but the process failed. In such circumstances, upon attempting to open and log into Clinical or Pracsoft you would be prompted that the database schema was out of date.

Performing a Schema Update

1.      Locate and double-click the MedicalDirector Maintenance icon on your desktop. The MedicalDirector Maintenance window appears.

2.      Double-click The Schema Update window appears.

If it is detected that your schema is already up-to-date, it will not be necessary to take any further action. Click to exit.

3.      Select the configuration whose database schema you wish to update. You may need to update each database you wish to connect with.

4.      Click to commence the update.
