Backup Media

See also: Backup / Restore

Backup hardware is only required on one computer on the network. The backup must be run from the server, but the backup file can be saved to any machine (or device) that the server has access to. There are a number of media types that may be used.

On Large capacity disks...

This includes ZIP, JAZ, Orb, LS120 and others. These disks will hold between 100Mb and 5 - 7 Gb, depending on the type of disk and drive used. These are a magnetic storage media and will need to be replaced regularly.

On removable media...

If the backup destination is to removable media such as floppy disks or Zip drives, the number of spans (disks consumed) and the total aggregated backup size will also be reported in the Backup Successfully Completed window.
