Closing Accounts

An account can be closed only if no monies are owed to either the practice or the patient, i.e. an account balance of $0. Also, do not confuse closing an account with deleting it; an account that has had any transactions against it can be closed, but it cannot be deleted.

1.      Open the record of the patient for whom you wish to close an account.

2.      From within the Patient Explorer, select Accounts from the Margin menu.

3.      Select an existing Account by either:

o      Selecting the account from those available and clicking the Open Existing Account button, or

o      Double-clicking on the account.

 

4.      The window for the specified account appears.

 

5.      Click  The Account Details window appears.

 

6.      Click the button in the Status text box (located towards the top-right of the window). The Account Status window appears.

 

7.      Select the Account Closed option. Note that if the account has an unpaid balance remaining, you will not be able to close it.

8.      Click  to confirm your selection. You are returned to the Account Details window where the Status field now indicates the Account is closed.
